Today Ms. B accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior. Hallelujah!
When we first met her, we found out that her father was a preacher for the Jehovah's Witness church but it didn't seem like she had a religion of her own. We've continually tried to share the gospel with her but she didn’t believe she was a sinner.
Today a friend and I (we volunteer together at the same nursing home every Sunday) shared the gospel with her and broke down the definition of sin—how it's not about doing bad things but it's our personal rejection of God which hurts him. Since Ms. B has a son, we asked her how she would feel if her son forgot about her. She replied that she would be upset, so we told her God feels the same way when we forget him and reject him. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and we need his grace. She asked, "Really?" I got the Bible and opened up to Romans 3:23-24. I read to her,
"for all, have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."
Through this, I explained the gospel and asked if she believes she has rejected God. She agreed and then I asked her if she believed that Jesus came to save her from her sin. She said a clear, "Yes". She read and prayed the prayer on the gospel pamphlet, accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior!
It felt surreal to witness her making this decision. We feel very honored and thankful that the Lord would use us to be mouthpieces of his wonderful news to these residents.
